The penultimate exchange visit of SD Europe’s Clubs and Supporters for Better Governance in Football project took place recently in Gelsenkirchen as Cork City FC visited FC Schalke 04.

The project has brought together six member-run clubs and five national supporters organisations from around Europe to learn and share best practice in the areas of good governance, sustainable finance and member & volunteer engagement. The work is co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme and Uefa.

SD Europe were very proud to deliver two presentations at this year’s UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play workshop, which took place in Montenegro on 11-13 October.

Hosted by the Football Association of Montenegro (FSGC), the workshop was attended by representatives from UEFA, its 55 member associations, and guests from FIFA and the AFC, CAF, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL confederations.

A representative of SD Europe recently took part in a monitoring visit to Kyiv on 9-10 October 2017 organised by the Standing Committee of the European Convention on Spectator Violence on the occasion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup group stage match between Ukraine and Croatia.

As the Clubs and Supporters for Better Governance in Football project draws into its final months, FC United of Manchester will welcome Erasmus+ partners C.A.P. Ciudad de Murcia and Cava United to Broadhurst Park this weekend.

All project partners travelled to Manchester last summer when FC United hosted the project’s Good Governance workshop over a three-day period, and CAP CDM and Cava United will now return once more and experience the FCUM life.

Kicking off a series of bilateral meetings planned for the coming months, the Spanish Football Association (Real Federación Española de Fútbol) took the opportunity to arrange a discussion around the SLO function ahead of the recent Europe League match between Villarreal and Slavia Prague in Spain.

The national football supporters team of Bulgaria won 6-1 against French counterparts, in the friendly Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) hosted under their ‘Fan Dialogue: 2020 and beyond’ project

A representative of SD Europe recently took part in the annual Pan-European Football Policing Training Project (PE-FPTP) event, delivered under the auspices of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) in cooperation with the Bulgarian CEPOL National Unit, the EU Thank Tank on Football Security and Liverpool University.  The event was held in mid-September in Sofia, Bulgaria, and was attended by police representatives with responsibility for football policing from a host of European countries.

In early September SD Europe attended the UEFA-EU Stadium and Security Conference in Munich at the invitation of UEFA.
