A 13-strong delegation made up of Finnish SLOs and the SLO coordinator of the Football Association of Finland (SPL) travelled to Stockholm for an observation visit to the game between Djurgårdens IF and GIF Sundsvall on 10 July.
After having lunch together, the delegation were given a tour of the Tele2 Arena by the two SLOs of Djurgården, Lena Gustafson Wiberg and Nils Ek. The rest of the afternoon was spent in one of the meeting rooms at the stadium, where a presentation about the implementation of the SLO function in Sweden was held. Discussions were very good and lots of thoughts and experiences were exchanged.
The visit continued the day after the match on the terraces of the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, Djurgården’s former home ground. Impressions from the day before and general questions were on the agenda. The day finished off with a visit to the club trophy room.
Nils Ek, SLO at Djurgården, said: “It’s always great to meet colleagues from other countries. It gives us an opportunity to exchange our knowledge and thoughts. Even though the football environment might differ from country to country, the fundamentals of the function are the same.”
