It was with huge sadness that we learned of the passing of Tottenham Hotspur supporter liaison officer Jonathan Waite yesterday.
Jonathan was a founder member of the European SLO network in 2016. When we approached the Premier League with the proposal to involve him in the network, they had no hesitation in endorsing him. It therefore came as little surprise to us when he was voted SLO of the Year by his peers later in that year.
A wealth of experience and expertise at both national and European level ensured Jonathan played a leading part in the subsequent development of the network. His thirst for learning more about how the SLO role was interpreted at other clubs at home and abroad was matched only by his willingness to share his knowledge with others. He was highly regarded by his fellow SLOs and a very popular figure within the group.
The news of his untimely passing comes a massive shock to us all and we will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
